SYDNEY TURF CLUB ON A WINNER According to Michael Kenny, Food and Beverage Manager at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens race course, “We needed an improved Electronic Cash Register system that incorporated swipe cards so we can institute a members loyalty programme and improve our stock control.
"Through Sanyo Office Machines we recently installed 49 Sanyo ECR 445-7 terminals here at Rosehill and with very little staff training we used them most successfully on two of our most popular race days.” With crowds exceeding 10,000 each day, even the busiest registers were able to handle more than 6 transactions per minute, something other large event catering venues are unable to do, resulting in lengthy delays for patrons requiring food or drinks. Michael went on to say, “The reports this system provides are great, we have been able to easily identify the peaks and troughs of our trading times and adjust staffing levels accordingly. Our normal stock take used to take up to 5 days, now we can do a stock take in 2 days, and these are just some of the features that have contributed to substantial cost savings. “Another handy feature is the fact that all the keypads can be individually keyed for different areas, in fact throughout the complex we have 24 various keypads so there is no need for price look-ups as they are all there on the register.” “Staff have found the system very user friendly and all the feed back from them has been extremely positive. New staff particularly, find that minimal training is required and the individual tailored keypads make each register very quick and simple to operate.” “We chose the Sanyo system for many reasons but the major factor was Sanyo Office Machines offer a ‘one stop shop’, that is they can supply both the software and hardware, provide the training, advise on cabling and give full back-up support.” “The Windows based system is much easier to use and produces very useful reports, I am looking forward to getting on line on both our race courses and further developing our member loyalty system. I have seen the potential of what it can do and it’s pretty exciting”. |
